A few final thoughts for Tuesday:

~One of the FAOs told me “you’re so cute when you’re mad”. *raises eyebrow*

~There is a new medical student who looks exactly like a young version of Principal Wood on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.

~Every time I hear the Ben Folds song “Fired” I slip into a little daydream wherein I am belting out that song on a piano in some sort of reception hall. I don’t even know how to play the piano.

question #51...what do you consider to be the most beautiful foreign accent? I think Spanish accents are really beautiful. As in, people from Spain, not people who just speak some form of Spanish. Also Creole accents, such as Haitian, are really musical-sounding. I also think Portuguese and Croatian are lovely languages in themselves. And Irish accents. Real ones, not horrid fake Lucky the Leprechaun ones.

Daydreaming on paper: List the dishes that your mother or grandmother made for which you would love to have the recipe.

~fried chicken

~potato salad: A family recipe, it uses mustard, hard-boiled eggs, and apple cider vinegar. It’s very savory and unlike any other potato salad I have ever tasted.

~chicken divine: A casserole with chicken meat, broccoli, cream of chicken soup, and topped with shredded cheddar cheese and cornflakes. This is something my mother came up with when she was a single mother and money needed to stretch. I could eat until it came out my ears.

~Mom’s meatloaf: She uses ground pork as well as beef, and puts sliced mushrooms in it.

~beef and barley stew: This is one of my step-dad’s dishes and it’s wonderful on a cold winter night.

Snuck over to CD Warehouse on my lunch break.

~”Parachutes”, Coldplay (finally)
~”Amelie” soundtrack
~”100% Fun”, Matthew Sweet

Found that last one when I was searching through the used Ss, hoping someone had sold a Sloan or Slowdive album (no one was that stupid, alas). I don’t know if it’s any good, but I adore “Girlfriend” and it was only $3.99, so what the hey.

The air freshener the janitors are using lately smells exactly like my Strawberry Shortcake doll did. That same weird mix of plastic and extremely synthetic strawberry scent. It’s very odd.

I was looking at some old photographs the other day, and I noticed my dimple is not as deep as it used to be. I wasn’t born with dimples. And I don’t have a pair of them. Most people have one on both sides of their mouth, I only have one on my right side. I got it when I was about 4 years old. I stole my baby-sitter’s son’s Big Wheels and was riding off into the sunset. He started yelling and chasing after me, and I was looking back at him and mocking him when I drove straight into a parked truck. I was small enough so that I almost fit underneath, but not small enough to avoid getting my face shredded on the undercarriage. Stupid karma. Anyway, something lacerated my right cheek and caused enough tissue damage to make a charming little dent. Funnily enough the skin itself healed with no scarring.

But it’s definitely not as deep as it used to be. Either because my face is rounder or because the tissue itself has healed a bit.

Two for Tuesday: Choice Style

1. Breakfast time - your choice...what do you choose? I like pancakes and bacon and all that stuff, but my favorite breakfast by far is a huge steaming hot mug of café au lait and beignets that were just made and covered with powdered sugar. Nothing like starting the day with a huge sugar and caffeine rush! And people wonder why there are so many fat people in Louisiana.

2. Vacation time - again your choice, money is no object, what do you choose? Normally I would say Japan or Ireland or something like that, but at the moment I would most like to be spending a week or 2 at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite. I have been wanting to stay there for a long time but honestly, at the moment it’s so far out of my price range I could cry.

This-or-That Tuesday: Another potpourri edition

1. Packrat or minimalist? Packrat, but organized.

2. Computer: desktop or laptop? I have a desktop but I’d rather have a laptop.

3. Seashore or mountains? Seashore.

4. Carpeting or bare floors? Hardwood floors with throw rugs.

5. Drinking water: bottled or tap? Bottled.

6. Shopping websites: eBay or Amazon? Amazon.

7. Cute little kitties or big scary tigers? Tigers.

8. Front door or back door? Back door (sneaky).

9. Lots of jewelry, or little/none? A lot, but tasteful.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: At the last minute, you obtain tickets to an event you're dying to attend. However, you have to work that day! Do you ask the boss for the time off, or just call in sick? I would ask the boss, because she’s cool and would almost certainly say it’s okay.
